Nothing stings like a poor follow-up to a classic

We gave the Liberty ISO our Best Debut nod when it released back in 2018. It was a pretty easy decision—our test

team rated the shoe over 90 percent on nearly every feature from stability to comfort. What hasn’t been so easy is

anxiously anticipating its sequel. Nothing stings like a poor follow-up to a classic; it doesn’t matter whether it’

s from a shoe box or box office. Luckily, Saucony directs a success in the ISO 2, with full-length Everun cushioning

back as the star in its leading role, saucony womens shoes

and a few new surprises from the supporting extras.

The upper is now a stretchy, breathable knit instead of mesh, and uses flexible, fibrous stitching to replace the

more rigid external support frame. Plus, the outsole is redesigned with lengthwise grooves that improve stability and

make the shoe significantly more flexible. Testers did note that the first version felt a little too stiff on foot,

and our findings from saucony mens shoes the RW Lab show that

the ISO 2 is much improved—the latest model makes a huge leap from the “very stiff” range to “moderate” and even

“flexible” for the men’s and women’s versions, respectively.

The Liberty’s outsole gets Saucony’s durable crystal rubber, a feature reserved for its pricier, premium models.

For the ISO 2, Saucony keeps the same shock-dispersing zigzag tread called TRI-Flex, but tweaks the outsole with more

guidance grooves to help center your weight over the shoe when you land. The change lessens the available outsole

surface for an aggressive tread, saucony shoes on sale but the grip still

holds strong thanks to the rubber’s resilient, “almost gummy” construction.

The Liberty’s upper saw the biggest transformation in this update. The entire construction switches from an

engineered mesh to knit material, and flexible stitching through the heel and midfoot supplants the old external

support frame. These changes help the shoe breathe a little better on foot, and also cut down on some bulk without

slashing any points for stability. However, runners who severely overpronate will likely feel more at home in the

Hurricane ISO 5, saucony outlet which offers the same plush cushioning

with more support.
