THE LONG-AWAITED APEX LEGENDS BATTLE PASS HAS ALMOST ARRIVED

Apex Legends has exploded in popularity since the battle royale game arrived last month, and EA and Respawn aren't wasting much time in making the first seasonal Battle Pass available. The Wild Frontier pass arrives March 19th for 950 Apex Coins ($9.50). If you buy it, you'll unlock three themed character skins immediately, for Lifeline, Wraith and Mirage. You can earn more than 100 additional rewards each time you level up, including weapon skins, banner frames and XP boosts.

The long-awaited Apex Legends Battle Pass has almost arrived, signalling the start of Season 1. The rumor has been that the Battle Pass will be available today, and that's seeming pretty likely considering it briefly appeared on Origin this morning before disappearing. Seeing that the banner image is still live on Origin servers even if it's not live in the client, we can expect the Battle Pass to arrive very, very soon.

Fans of Apex Legends have been anxiously awaiting the battle pass launch since the game first released at the beginning of February. As pioneered first by Fortnite creator Epic Games, a battle pass system lets players pay a small fee, typically around $10, for three months of ongoing in-game rewards and special events.

In addition to the Wild Frontier Season 1 Battle Pass, Respawn is also launching the first new character for Apex Legends. Octane is quick character with cybernetic legs. He blew off his original legs during a “record-breaking gautlet speedrun,” which is a reference to Titanfall 2’s tutorial mission. Octane has the Adrenaline Junkie ability that lets him exchange a chunk of his health for a speed boost. But he also has auto-regenerating Stims to replenish that health. His ultimate is a deployable launch pad that enables anyone to fly through the air.

The rewards available in the Season 1 Battle Pass can only be earned until the season is over, and after it ends, players can’t earn new Wild Frontier content. For those who don’t purchase the Battle Pass, they can still earn one Wild Frontier Legend skin, five Apex Packs and 18 Wild Frontier stat trackers for free.

Respawn arguably has work to do on the game it already launched. The explosive growth of the game led to serious server issues early on, and lag has continued to infuriate top players. All that said, Respawn seems to be handling the pressure well, with some believing that the Battle Pass has already been delayed to ensure a polished launch. For now, it’s a waiting game.
