Ethiopia's Bizuneh Melaku Belachew danced on the finish line as he smashed his personal best to win the Hong Kong Marathon on Sunday in a new course record.
The 27-year-old performed a jig to celebrate with the runner-up Cheap Nike Shox , Kenya's Julius Kipyego Keter, who finished just 3 seconds behind, because "I'm so -happy."
Belachew slashed almost a minute off the course record to cross the line in 2 hours, 10 minutes and 31 seconds.
"I was not expecting to break the course record but after 33 kilometers I thought it is possible - and I did it," he said.
Belachew Cheap Vapormax Shoes , who paid his own expenses to join the race, now plans to buy a house in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa with his $65,000 winner's check.
Belachew said of his Kenyan rival, "I didn't know him before but he's my friend now. We celebrated together."
Ethiopia also claimed first place in the women's race, with Gulume Tollesa Chala crossing the line in 2:33:39.

"I didn't train for the last two weeks," he said. "But I didn't want to drop out. I was running for my family."
The 42-kilometer course was run -under blue skies on Sunday in contrast to the heavy rain which drenched last year's event.
However, pollution levels in the city were classed as "unhealthy for sensitive groups" with the Air Quality Index at 126.
And the event was marred when a 52-year-old woman collapsed on the finish line after completing the 10--kilometer race. She was in critical condition in the hospital, local reports said.

Among the 74,000 runners pounding the streets was Cantopop star Stephanie Cheng who took on the 10--kilometer race. "The crowds were great today - a lot of college students - and the weather was perfect," she said.

ACCRA， March 1 (Xinhua) -- The Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Tuesday night set up a six-member committee to search for a new coach for the senior national soccer team， the Black Stars.
The committee will be headed by GFA president Kwesi Nyantakyi.
The decision was taken at the executive committee's meeting in Accra Tuesday.
The committee tasked to search for the Black Stars was directed to use the headhunting and applications from interested coaches as the two methods to be used to recruit the new coach.
""The Committee was also mandated to target suitable and competent coaches for consideration even if they don't apply for the post，"" the GFA said in a release.
The assistant coach of the Black Stars Maxwell Konadu was given a temporary charge of the team until the substantive coach is named.
Ghana is without a coach following the departure of Israeli Avram Grant who ended his term by mutual consent at the end of last month.
The 62-year-old who previously managed teams likes of Chelsea， West Ham United and Portsmouth， took charge of the Black Stars in December 2014.
The new coach will lead Ghana to face Congo in the 2018 World Cup qualifier in August.
