WINNIPEG - The official youth skills competition of Major League Baseball is coming to Shaw Park. The Winnipeg Goldeyes will host the only Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run local competition in Manitoba on May 19 from 12-3 p.m. at Shaw Park. For ages 7-14, the grassroots program is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete, free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills. Competitors are divided into four age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, and have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championships at Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the 2012 MLB All-Star Game in Kansas City, Missouri. The individual pitching, hitting and running champions, along with the all-around champion in each age group at the local competition will be awarded and advance to the section level of competition. All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and fill out the registration/waiver form prior to the start of the competition. Arredondo jumped on the ascent with 36.6 kilometres (22.7 miles) remaining and had a 36-second advantage over Stefano Pirazzi at the summit, with a greatly reduced peloton crossing 1 minute, 57 seconds later. Pierre Rolland attacked off the group on the descent but Arredondo still had an advantage of 1:10 over him at the start of the penultimate climb, with the peloton trailing by 2:40. Arredondo faded two kilometres from the finish, and Rolland continued on solo before being swept up by the peloton with 350 metres to go. Daniel Moreno jumped but he was passed by Kiserlovksi, who looked to take victory until Ulissis attack from nowhere.
