The development triggered reports in the Zambian media claiming that the Ghana Football Association "had refused to help the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) and had also refused to help the advance delegation get the desired hotel and training ground in Kumasi".
The GFA subsequently issued a statement on Wednesday evening dismissing the claims expressing its surprise at the unfortunate and blatantly untrue media reports which alleged that Ghana was frustrating their attempt (Chipolopolo) to fly directly to Kumasi ahead of Friday's epic World Cup qualifier.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) explained: "The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) had a request to land directly in Kumasi turned down by the aviation authorities in Ghana because the Kumasi Airport is not an international one and it is also undergoing some rehabilitation works."
The Ghanaian authorities stated categorically that the reports were utterly false and wrongly impugned and smeared Ghana's outstanding hospitality record to visiting teams.
