Pass protection has been a problem for Miami all season

NEW YORK -- Brooklyn Nets forward Paul Pierce has been fined $15,000 for his flagrant foul on George Hill of the Pacers. Pierce was ejected in the third quarter of Indianas 103-86 win Monday. George Hill stole a bad pass and was going in for a layup, and Pierce hustled back and appeared to be trying to wrap him up. But his arm ended up going around Hills neck for a clothesline tackle. Referees ruled it a flagrant 2 after review, an automatic ejection. The NBA said Tuesday that Pierce made "excessive and unnecessary contact." wooden lamp Knauf and Brown are mindful furniture designers Vancouver duo believes sustainability comes from being more appreciative of everyday household objects. Have you really thought about your bedside lamp? About the current of electricity that feeds it, the person who designed it, the machines and hands that assembled it, the millions of man-hours it took for this technology to evolve into what it is today? Maybe you have. I hadn’t until I spoke to Vancouver-based designer Calen Knauf, who is challenging people to be more mindful of the items that inhabit their worlds. “We want to create a heightened appreciation for domestic objects,” Knauf says. “We want people to build relationships with them.” Knauf and Conrad Brown form part of Knauf and Brown, a Vancouver studio that specializes in designing furniture and lighting fixtures. The two recent graduates from the Emily Carr University of Art and Design are challenging traditional notions of sustainability. If we are mindful of domestic objects — that is, if we approach them with a heightened meditative-like sense of awareness — Knauf and Brown believe we will no longer consider them disposable. “The concept of sustainability was really driven into our heads at Emily Carr,” Knauf says. “But a lot of this ‘sustainability’ felt superficial to us.” Rather than making recyclable items, or crafting objects out of recycled materials, Knauf and Brown want to create objects that won’t end up in landfills in the first place. “The longer you can keep something in the hands of the consumer, the less of an impact it has on the environment,” Brown says. “We just can’t continue to buy crappy things and then replace them,” Knauf adds “If you really love an object, you won’t throw it away. Taking this philosophy to a logical extreme, the pair have created the Standard Collection, which consists of a lamp, a mirror and a side table. bhs wooden table lamps Trays of miniature succulents in various shapes, colors and textures "can be irresistibly small and sweet and inexpensive, like candy," Heibel said. Unlike many other glossy design books, this one shows images of what look like actual, lived-in homes — several photos include cats — with some startling yet down-to-earth upcycling suggestions for plant containers, including mason jars, decorative cookie tins, and even glass electric-meter boxes and unused table lamps (with a cascading plant where a lamp shade might have been). Old picture frames become stunning displays of maintenance-free dried moss (step-by-step instructions with full-color images included), and pieces of driftwood are dramatic mounts for ferns. Helped along by a few small nails or hooks, philodendron and bougainvillea can be trained to grow across an indoor wall, dramatically spanning anywhere from 5 to 25 feet. Macramé plant hangers and terrariums, features from a generation ago, are back, but with a more contemporary feel. "Our macramé is cleaner, more streamlined and more contemporary-looking," says Heibel. "And the terrariums have much more use of graphic material and color and texture and shape." The book's final section, The Roots, gives a plant-by-plant glossary of possibilities, with trouble-shooting suggestions. "The most frequent question we're asked is to recommend a plant that's hard to kill," Heibel said. "That definition differs from person to person. Maybe one person goes out of town for a month and another waters too much. People often don't really think about care and maintenance before putting a grand indoor landscaping plan together. We want to make sure that what you're planting lives." Two common misperceptions about houseplants, the authors say, is that they all require roughly the same care (they don't) and that they'll always look like they do when first purchased. "You might look at a young fern in a shop and think it's perfect, but you need to know that ferns grow and you'll need to do some pruning," Heibel says. "And people buy a succulent that's cute and small, but then it grows a really long stalk or does other funny things. That's actually part of the beauty of it, but it sometimes comes as a surprise." http://www.cheapwoodenlamps.com/wooden-flush-mount.html New Buenos Aires Luxury Ceiling Lamp Iris Design Studio is excited to announce the launch of the new design Buenos Aires Ceiling Lamp, a great interior lighting solution. Martin was with relatives, and his issues didnt involve any problems with the coaching staff, the person said. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Dolphins have said not released any details of the illness. Martin, 24, played in Sundays loss at New England, then missed practice this week. He was replaced by Tyson Clabo, who started Miamis first six games before being benched. A second-round draft pick from Stanford, Martin started every game at right tackle as a rookie last year. He switched to left tackle this season, then moved back to the rright side last week in a reshuffling of the Dolphins struggling offensive line.dddddddddddd "You can approach this two different ways," Martin said last week regarding his latest position switch. "You can go in the tank and be one of those guys that moans and is a cancer in the locker room, or you can be a professional and play as hard as you can. My mindset is Im going to go out there and do whatever I can to help the team win." Pass protection has been a problem for Miami all season. Ryan Tannehill went into the Bengals game with an NFL-high 32 sacks, and the Dolphins (3-4) were saddled with a four-game losing streak. Martins agent didnt respond to requests for comment. In an unrelated move, the Dolphins promoted receiver Ryan Spadola from the practice squad to the active roster. cheap lamps
