ABUJA Cheap Phillip Lindsay Jersey , March 30 (Xinhua) -- Security operatives in Nigeria foiled a jailbreak by suspected members of the Boko Haram sect at the secret police headquarters, a security official said Sunday.
The jailbreak was attempted early Sunday when the inmates' handlers went to feed them, spokesperson of the Department of State Security (DSS) Marilyn Ogar said in the capital city Abuja, without giving the number of detainees involved in the incident.
This caused sporadic gunshots by security operatives who quickly brought the situation under control. "The military was quickly called in before they could do any harm and that is responsible for the shootings heard around the headquarters of the Department of State Security (DSS). The military was the one shooting," Ogar told Xinhua.

Many residents panicked as the shooting raged on for about an hour. Due to the incident, rumors also rented the air that an exchange of gunfire ensued between the security operatives and insurgents. It was not clear whether there were dead or injured casualties of the incident as of the time of filing the report.
Armed-to-the-teeth policemen cordoned off roads leading to the Police Headquarters and other adjoining roads to the secret police headquarters. There were also speculations that the Presidential Villa was under attack, although these rumors were quickly dispelled by presidential aides.
In a terse statement made available to Xinhua, presidential spokesperson Reuben Abati said the Nigerian leader remained safe. "What happened at the DSS headquarters this (Sunday) morning was an attempted jailbreak which has been effectively foiled. There is no cause for alarm.
"What happened at the DSS headquarters has nothing to do with the (Presidential) Villa. President Jonathan is safe and well Cheap Justin Simmons Jersey ," he added.
Boko Haram, a sect which has launched many deadly attacks since 2009, has proved to be the major security threat in Nigeria, Africa's most populous country.
