La revisión del PIB no altera las debilidades fundamentales de la economía nigeriana. De hecho, la intensidad de la IED y el superávit de la cuenta corriente, medido como porcentaje del PIB, ahora se ven peor, con un 1,5% del PIB (2012) y un 2,3% del PIB (2013), respectivamente.
A Nigeria le va mal en toda una serie de indicadores que definen el entorno empresarial. Ocupa el lugar 1Asics Gel Lyte 3 Mujer 44 entre 175 economías en el índice de Percepción de la Corrupción Adidas Superstar Femme de Transparency International, el 147o de 189 países en el ranking de Facilidad para Hacer Negocios del Banco Mundial y el 120o de 148 países en el índice de Competitividad Global del Foro Económico Mundial. En términos de desarrollo humano, ocupa el puesto 153 de 186 países en el ranking del índice de Desarrollo Humano del PNUD. En todos estos indicadores, Nigeria se encuentra significativamente rezagado respecto de Sudáfrica.

A pesar de que el PBI per cápita se ubica actualmente en US $ 3,056, la pobreza es generalizada. En 2011, el 78.5% de la población vivía con menos de US $ 2 por día. Esta cifra puede revisarse a la baja a la luz de las Nike Cortez Mujer nuevas cifras del PIB, pero para un país de ingresos medios, la pobreza sin duda seguirá siendo desproporcionada.
La base impositiva parece ser incluso más peque?a de lo que era antes cuando se la considera como un porcentaje del PBI. La densidad de la red vial es baja en 0,2 kilómetros por km2 de tierra, en comparación con 0,7 en Sudáfrica y solo el 15% de las carreteras estaban pavimentadas, en comparación con el 22,2% en Sudáfrica.
