Outside collaborators could never make changes to the shoes themselves, only adjust colors and materials to create their own spin on the classic. But in recent years, perhaps in response to the increased public interest in fashion-forward sneaker collaborations, the Swoosh seems to have softened its stance. For instance, in 2014 they allowed Riccardo Tisci to radically alter the Air Force 1 by turning it into a knee-high boot, and let ACG designer Errolson Hugh do the same earlier this year with his own all-weather version. Additionally, Virgil Abloh is rumored to be making his own post-modern take on the Air Jordan 1.

Hits of red provide even more contrast by being placed on the ankle collar, gradient midsole, and branding. It follows up slightly more technical, multicolored Air Prestos (like the ACRONYM collabs), providing a bit of lighthearted relief to Nike’s Presto lineup. According to Nike's website, the fit is supposed to be snug but light, like a sock. The new Converse sneakers—available in green glow, indigo, white, black, red, and gray—feature this futuristic material along with Nike's Lunarlon insole for cushioning.
